Friday Family Film Night: THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA review

In which the Kid 1 joins me in reviewing PHANTOM OF THE OPERA (2004), director Joel Schumacher’s 2004 cinematic adaptation of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s iconic musical, with screenplay credits to Andrew Lloyd Webber and Joel Schumacher, and based off Gaston Leroux's novel "Le Fantôme de L'Opéra".

A disfigured, musical genius known only as the Phantom (Gerard Butler) haunts the catacombs of the Paris Opera House while secretly tutoring a rising young chorus girl named Christine Daaé (Emmy Rossum). As the Phantom’s obsession with Christine deepens, he resorts to increasingly sinister acts of sabotage and terror to ensure she takes center stage, driving a wedge between her and her childhood sweetheart, Raoul (Patrick Wilson). Caught between her deep gratitude and pity for her mysterious mentor and her genuine love for Raoul, Christine finds herself trapped in a dangerous emotional triangle as the opera house descends into absolute chaos.
