Why should Christians keep sharing the gospel when some people seem completely opposed to Jesus?
The doctrine of election gives us hope in evangelism: God will save every person whom He has chosen, even when that person's conversion seems humanly impossible.
In this message from Amos 9:11-15, John Musgrave explains why the doctrine of election should encourage Christians to evangelize and pray for unbelievers. The Lamb's Book of Life represents those whom God has chosen to save, and Jesus promises that everyone the Father gives Him will come to Him. That means we should not assume that someone who currently rejects Christianity, resists the gospel, or seems unlikely to believe will never come to faith.
The conversion of Saul of Tarsus is a powerful example: someone who appeared to be an enemy of Christianity became the Apostle Paul. We cannot know whom God has chosen, so we continue to proclaim Christ, pray for the unsaved, and trust God to use our evangelism according to His sovereign purpose.
This passage also points beyond evangelism today to the future triumph of Jesus Christ. Jesus is reigning now as He builds His kingdom through the gospel, but when He returns, His kingdom will triumph completely. Sin and its effects will be removed, God's people will inherit the earth, and Christ will reign in the new creation.
This teaching is especially relevant for Christians interested in Biblical interpretation, election, evangelism, salvation, the sovereignty of God, the gospel, Christian discipleship, and the hope of Christ's return.

If you are discouraged by the apparent resistance of someone you love to the gospel, this message is a reminder: we do not know whom God will save. So keep praying. Keep speaking about Jesus. Keep living faithfully. And trust the King who saves His people.
