Israel and Greece have signed a defense export deal worth around three billion euros, the largest ever between the two countries. Israel will supply Greece with a multi-layered air defense system including David’s Sling, as the two countries deepen strategic cooperation amid shared concerns over Turkey’s growing regional influence and military ambitions.
Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan are holding their first talks under the Mecca Joint Defence Agreement in Istanbul. A British activist detained in the southern West Bank will be deported from Israel, subject to a hearing. A new Kan election poll shows Ofer Winter’s People of Israel party and Bezalel Smotrich’s Religious Zionist Party crossing the 3.25% electoral threshold. Likud has fallen to 21 seats, while Gadi Eisenkot’s Yashar remains the largest party with 24 seats and Naftali Bennett’s B’Yachad has 21.
Britain’s Chief Rabbi, Sir Ephraim Mirvis, has urged Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband to drop planned sanctions targeting Israeli communities in the West Bank. Mirvis warned the measures could damage UK-Israel relations and risk developing into a broader boycott of Israel. The proposed sanctions are linked to Israel’s planned development of the E1 area near Ma’aleh Adumim.
