Trump Administration Says Energy Policies Will Lower Gas and Diesel Prices
The Trump administration says its efforts to expand domestic oil and gas production, increase refining capacity, and ease fuel regulations will help reduce gasoline and diesel prices for American consumers, truckers, and farmers.
The administration highlights record U.S. oil and natural gas production, investments in domestic refining, and the use of the Defense Production Act to boost fuel supplies. It also points to increased Venezuelan oil imports, international agreements to release more than 130 million barrels of diesel from stockpiles, and fuel waivers intended to increase domestic supply.
Other initiatives include an executive order aimed at reducing diesel costs, a proposed $54 billion Alaska natural gas pipeline project backed by South Korean and Taiwanese investment, and regulatory changes intended to ease fuel distribution and refining constraints.
The White House argues that these measures will strengthen American energy security and bring down costs. However, the extent and timing of any price declines will depend on market conditions, refining capacity, global oil supply, and the implementation of the administration’s policies.
