Trooper Matthew Dunne told a federal jury that Matthew Farwell lied to him about Sandra Birchmore, and that he ruled her death a suicide anyway. The lies were about when the relationship began and how many times they'd been together. The interview where Farwell told them happened in a school parking lot with no recording and no notes, a choice Dunne says was meant to keep Farwell from calling a lawyer. Dunne didn't attend the autopsy, didn't interview neighbors, and didn't question Farwell's coworkers. Bob Motta breaks down the investigation and asks the question the jury has to answer: was this sloppy, or was it protection? Farwell is charged with killing Sandra and her unborn child and staging the scene. He says she died by suicide. Trial continues in Boston.
