Mackenzie Palma met Sandra Birchmore in second grade. Her mother babysat Sandra. The day after Sandra’s pregnancy test came back positive, she messaged Palma for a custom baby-announcement sign and onesies. The onesie shown in court said “made with love.”

On January 29 Sandra asked if Palma was working February 13. “Will you take pictures with me after?” A Valentine’s Day baby announcement. Three days later she was found dead, and the defense says she chose to be there.

Sandra’s OB-GYN testified she scored zero on suicidal ideation. Her lawyer testified Sandra was optimistic about custody and wanted the father’s last name on the birth certificate. The jury heard Sandra’s voice for the first time in two voicemails to the lawyer. On the second one she apologizes for bothering her.

The judge sent the jury home on the onesie. Wednesday a grooming expert takes the stand. Thursday: Jason Pickard.
