Timmy Gibson went to breakfast with Ted Haggard multiple times. He was a fellow pastor in the evangelical world, close enough to see the charm and sense something underneath it. Years later, when the Caleb Flynn case broke, Gibson saw the same architecture. Flynn led worship in Tipp City, Ohio, while maintaining a relationship with a fellow team member and texting her over a hundred thousand times. He was convicted on all nine counts in Ashley Flynn's murder and sentenced to life without parole. Gibson pastored for three decades before leaving the faith entirely. On Homicide Happy Hour, he explained why worship team affairs are, in his words, super common. He said the system demands hiding. Flynn couldn't be honest either. And Gibson believes Flynn's tears at church weren't guilt. They were the false humility that sin creates inside a system built to reward brokenness.
