Your Partner Thinks You're Lazy. You Actually Want to Do the Thing But You Can't Get Started. What Now?

Dela

The dishes have been sitting there for two days. You’ve walked past them six hundred times, and every time your brain says do the dishes, and every time you don’t. Not because you don’t care. You just can’t make your body start.

Then your partner comes home and says it: “Why do I have to do everything around here? You never help.”

Today, I’m going to show you why the gap between wanting to do the thing and being able to start the thing isn’t laziness. It’s not a character flaw, and it’s not proof you don’t care. It’s neurology. You’re not lazy, you’re stuck, and stuck is something we can build solutions for. Then I’m handing you four moves to get you and your partner out of the “you never help” fight for good.

IN THIS EPISODE

  • Why “lazy” is the story people tell when they can see the undone thing but can’t see the effort
  • Task initiation: why you can want something badly and still not be able to press “start”
  • Working memory and the side-quest vortex: how “I’ll just do the dishes” turns into forty minutes and no dishes
  • The invisible mental load women carry, and why you can be carrying more while getting criticized for less
  • The parent-child trap: how one partner becomes the manager and the other becomes the managed, and why it’s so hard on desire
  • Four moves out: externalize the start, make the invisible load visible, hand over the whole file (not just the task), and agree on reminders in advance
