If you’ve ever asked for the quiet weekend and then resented the quiet weekend, this one’s for you.

You said yes to the dinner on Monday. By Saturday you were quietly hoping it’d get cancelled. And when it did? Relief. Ninety minutes later? Bored, and a little heartbroken that nothing’s happening this weekend. Same brain, same day, ninety minutes apart.

You’ve been told to “just figure out what you want.” To “communicate your needs clearly.” To “pick a lane.” And honestly? That advice is solid, even research-backed.... for neurotypical brains. For a brain quietly running two operating systems at once, it lands like a personal failing.

Here’s the reframe: you’re not indecisive, and you’re not flaky. You’ve got two nervous systems with genuinely different requirements, and they both belong to you. In this episode I name the five tug-of-wars underneath it all, show you how each one gets misread by a partner, and hand you three moves that have genuinely changed how this works in my own relationship.

IN THIS EPISODE

  • What AuDHD actually means, in plain language - and why the old “you can’t be both” myth kept so many women undiagnosed for decades
  • Why this hits women especially hard
  • The five tug-of-wars involved in this
  • Why your needs start looking “unreliable” to a partner - and the heartbreaking thing you do in response
  • Three moves you can use this week
