Growing Jack-O'-Lanterns is a cheerful short story that follows a group of village boys through the seasons as they plant pumpkin seeds in spring, watch their vines bloom under the summer sun, and harvest proud, round pumpkins by autumn. When Halloween finally arrives, the boys carve grinning faces, tuck candles inside, and set their glowing creations loose in the dark to surprise the girls of the village — filling the night with shadows, squeals, and laughter.
