a cynical university student living in a tiny dorm room feels an inexplicable unease toward the narrow, empty gap between the top of her closet and the ceiling. Pressed for time during a sudden room inspection, she hurriedly hides a stack of dirty dishes in the forbidden space, only to find them completely gone the next day. Shortly after, the dishes are violently hurled onto the floor and smashed into shards though they are now impossibly, spotless clean.
Unnerved yet curious, she begins running "experiments" by placing pieces of paper in the gap, discovering that an unseen, intelligent entity is living up there and writing unsettling, cryptic replies back to her notes.
