A researcher named Chloe discovers that her brilliant colleague, Steven, is secretly engaging in deep self-harm—an act tied to an esoteric cult that uses blood sacrifices and self-inflicted pain to access an alternate realm.
Driven by obsession and a desire to understand his sudden disappearance, Chloe investigates the mythology of "bandy-legged beasts" and learns that this fluid, lawless dimension traps visitors in a state of unnatural euphoria within their own worst, suppressed memories. After severing her real-world ties, Chloe tracks down a transformed Steven, yields to his invitation to follow him through a blood ritual, and steps into the bizarre realm—only to find her own limbs warped and her mind overwhelmed by a horrific, laughing breakdown as she is forced into a state of joyous torment inside her deepest nightmare.
