State Police collected DNA from the strap found around Sandra Birchmore's neck and from the underwear she was wearing. Prosecutors in Matthew Farwell's federal murder trial say neither was tested. The primary person of interest was interviewed in a parking lot without a recording. Witnesses who reported his statements about wanting Sandra to end her life were never followed up on. Sandra's family was told she took her own life and spent years fighting that conclusion before a private pathologist found a fractured hyoid bone. Tony and Bob Motta go through the investigation from a legal standpoint and ask whose interests it was protecting.
