Matchbox: The Movie — You Can’t See This Coming

Nobody asked for a Matchbox movie. Nobody put it on their radar. Nobody circled October 9th on their calendar and said “that’s the one.” And yet — here we are. Mattel and Apple TV+ have delivered a globetrotting action adventure starring John Cena as an undercover CIA agent who rolls back into his hometown and accidentally drags his childhood friends into an international mission to save the world. Yes, really.

Directed by Sam Hargrave — the man who made Extraction 2 an absolute ride — and stacked with a cast that includes Jessica Biel, Sam Richardson, Teyonah Parris, and Danai Gurira, Matchbox: The Movie had absolutely no business being what it turned out to be. Whether that’s a compliment or a warning — well, that’s exactly why you need to tune in today.
