In this episode, based on James chapters 4 and 5, we are reminded to live faithfully and honestly, entrusting our lives to God’s care.
The final verse of chapter 4 carries immense weight: "Therefore, to him who knows to do good and fails to do it, to him it is sin."
James highlights a truth I learned from my father: there are sins of commission – the wrong things we actively do – and sins of omission, where we fail to do what we know is right.
He then rebukes the wealthy, declaring: "Weep and howl for the miseries that are coming upon you." This warning is not aimed at believers, but at those living apart from Christ whose primary pursuit is worldly wealth and power.
The tragedy is that so many devote their lives merely to accumulating riches. Yet, as the saying goes: naked we enter this world, and naked we leave it. We brought no money or clothes when we arrived, utterly dependent on others, and when we pass away, we will be just as dependent once more.
