Proverbs 27:5-6 says wounds from a friend can be trusted, but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful. Real honesty is costly, but it's what real relationships are built on.
In this Good Eats message, Rob McClure challenges us to go deeper, get honest, and be honest:
Going deeper - relationships built only on the surface can't hold up when the floods come. (Luke 6:48-49)
Getting honest - we have to have the courage to let others speak truth into our lives. (Galatians 6:2, Psalm 92:12-14)
Being honest - open rebuke from a friend is worth more than hidden, deceitful love. As iron sharpens iron, so we sharpen each other. (Proverbs 27:5-6, 17, John 1:14, 17)
Real friendship isn't always comfortable, but it's always worth it.
