Fanny Crosby was born blind and still wrote thousands of songs for the church. She had a depth that most of us are chasing. So why are we so restless?
In this message, guest speaker Peter Reeves shares what God has been speaking to him about quieting the soul. Starting with Ecclesiastes 5 and Psalm 46:10, he shows a pattern throughout scripture of God working in the lives of people who learn to be still:
God pulls out what's hidden in us - Adam rested, and God brought out something he didn't know was there. (Genesis 2:21-23)
God makes a way where there is no way - Moses held his position of rest while God opened the sea. (Exodus 14:21-22)
God calms the storm - the best response the disciples had was to get close to Jesus, not scream at the waves. (Luke 8)
God breaks the chains - Peter was so at peace he slept in prison until the angel arrived. (Acts 12:6-)
Along the way, Peter points to Moses, Jesus in the wilderness, and the Apostle John on Patmos, and he reminds us that God's day begins with rest, not work. (Genesis 1, Jude 1:20)
If your mind never slows down and you can't sit in silence, this message is for you. There's a remedy for your restlessness, and it starts with being still.
