Who was Isis—and how did an ancient Egyptian goddess become connected with spiritual and occult movements that continue into the modern era?
Rebecca Greenwood continues her exploration of the Queen of Heaven by turning to ancient Egypt and the figures of Isis, Osiris, Horus, and Ra. She examines Isis as an ancient moon goddess and explains the connections she draws between these Egyptian religious traditions, Freemasonry, the Order of the Eastern Star, and other esoteric organizations.
Rebecca then explores the life and influence of Helena Blavatsky, founder of the Theosophical Society, and discusses how Blavatsky's writings and spiritual experiences helped shape later occult and New Age thought. She also examines the role Isis played in Blavatsky's work and the connections Rebecca sees between these ideas and later spiritual movements.
From ancient Egyptian worship to Freemasonry, Theosophy, New Age spirituality, witchcraft, and modern occult practices, Rebecca challenges believers to understand the spiritual roots behind the ideas and practices they encounter today.
This episode continues Rebecca's teaching from her book, Dethroning the Queen of Heaven, and her larger exploration of the different manifestations she associates with the Queen of Heaven.
