In 1993, New Orleans police officer Len Davis was awarded the department's Medal of Merit. A year later, he was running a protection racket for drug dealers, and when a 32-year-old mother of three filed a complaint about him, she was dead in less than a day. This episode of The FBI Files follows Operation Shattered Shield, the FBI sting that exposed a web of corruption inside the New Orleans Police Department, the murder of Kim Groves that blew the investigation open, and the trials that followed, including the first federal death sentence for an on-duty police officer for civil rights violations. Part of The FBI Files, based on real case history.
