Next, they respond to the Consumer Price Index report of annual inflation slowing to 3.5 percent in June, which is lower than expected, but still too high for consumers. They consider how Republicans should address affordability, emphasizing that poor perceptions of the economy can translate into negative election results for the GOP.

Then, Jim and Greg cover reports that President Trump plans a prime-time address on Thursday allegedly touching on foreign meddling in the 2020 election. Jim explains why he believes the president would be better served emphasizing issues that more directly impacting Americans today.
