In a quiet village where every resident obeys an unspoken rule, the streets fall empty each night before eleven o’clock sharp. Doors are locked, windows barred, and families huddle silently indoors waiting for the sound they fear most: the ringing of the ancient bell tower at the center of town. For generations, villagers have believed that anyone caught outside when the bell tolls will meet a terrible fate. Most are too frightened to question the legend. But when a skeptical outsider named Jacob Pearson arrives with his young wife, he becomes determined to prove the superstition false once and for all. Certain the villagers are prisoners of their own fear, Jacob climbs the tower just before the appointed hour to silence the bell himself—unaware that some warnings survive for a reason.
