For years, the noises coming from the apartment next door were little more than an annoyance—scraping furniture, muffled voices, and the occasional burst of violent banging through the bedroom wall. Strange, yes, but easy enough to ignore in a crowded city apartment building. Then one night, a new sound begins: soft, deliberate tapping from the other side of the wall, always spaced several minutes apart, almost as if someone is waiting for a response. What starts as an irritating interruption slowly becomes something deeply unsettling as the tapping grows louder, more frantic, and impossible to dismiss. And when a visit from the police finally reveals what was happening in the neighboring apartment that night, one horrifying realization changes everything the narrator thought they heard through the wall.
