You know that feeling when everything is "fine" but your body is saying something different? This week I get honest about the fact that my nervous system has been dysregulated for weeks — I just didn't recognize it because it wasn't showing up the way it used to.

In this episode, I talk about why calm can actually feel unfamiliar (even unsafe) if your nervous system learned early on that life is supposed to feel like chaos, crisis, and cortisol spikes, and what happened when I stumbled into a breathwork practice that finally got my body and brain speaking the same language again.

KEY EPISODE INSIGHTS:

  • Dysregulation doesn't always look like panic. Sometimes it shows up as physical symptoms in a totally different part of your body — you have to learn your own signals.
  • Nervous systems can get addicted to chaos. If yours learned early that intensity, urgency, and drama equal "alive," then genuine calm can register as boring, wrong, or even threatening.
  • Cortisol is chemically addictive. Your body will keep chasing the spike unless you actively teach it a new baseline.
  • Avoiding chaos isn't the same as healing from it. Skipping straight to "everything's fine" can leave real feelings — grief, anxiety, fear of stillness — unprocessed and stuck in the body.
  • Regulation has to be felt, not just known. Journaling and self-coaching matter, but sometimes the body needs a physical release (like breathwork) to actually complete the stress cycle.
  • Identity shifts get stored in the body too. Stepping into more visibility — and the possibility of rejection that comes with it — can set off dysregulation even when it's something you want.
  • Shared witnessing accelerates healing. Saying the shameful, hidden thing out loud in a safe space is often what moves you from stuck to taking action.

About me: I help female entrepreneurs rewrite the stories that are keeping them stuck in outdated identities so they can stop overthinking, outsourcing decision-making, and playing small.
