In this episode, I'm breaking down what a ritual actually is. A ritual turns intention into an experience, which is why they matter in doing deeper narrative and identity work. You can really use rituals to signify your growth, integrate new habits, and raise your vibration and energy.
I also get into why I think rituals are actually a way of reclaiming your own agency. And per usual, I get real personal about my own rituals and practices, and the loop I've been finding myself in lately around worthiness and feeling like a failure that I had to take my own inventory on.
KEY EPISODE INSIGHTS:
- Rituals aren't inherently "witchy". They're already woven into daily life. Your morning coffee, getting-ready playlist, or candle before a bath all count.
- A ritual isn't about what you do, it's about the meaning behind it. The rituals that matter most mark a beginning, an ending, a change, or an honoring.
- Rituals turn intention into an experience. They tell your brain "this matters" and give it something to actually pay attention to.
- Waiting for outside permission keeps you stuck. Lines like "when I make enough money" or "when I finally lose the weight" are ways of outsourcing your own transition. A ritual lets you mark it yourself, on your own terms.
- Releasing rituals (writing it out, then burning it, tearing it up, or letting it go another physical way) can process resentment and shame that talking alone doesn't fully clear.
- Release isn't the whole process — what comes after matters just as much. Once you've purged the old story, you still have to consciously write the new one.
- Doing this in community changes it. Sharing your personal rituals with others normalizes them and often introduces you to new ones you'd never have found alone.
- The "messy middle" never fully ends. Growth in one area doesn't mean you've arrived everywhere — and that's not a failure, it's just the nature of being human.
RESOURCES MENTIONED:
You’re invited to take your own inventory with us on September 22, 2026. We're getting together to name it, thank it, write the story that's actually true, and then burn the old b*tch.

About me: I help female entrepreneurs rewrite the stories that are keeping them stuck in outdated identities so they can stop overthinking, outsourcing decision-making, and playing small. I do this through my Beyond the Story Method and my signature program, Rewritten, which combines narrative therapeutic writing and community.
