Episode 26 - Why Movement Might Be the Missing Piece for Better Mood, Sleep and Mental Wellbeing
We all know movement is good for us but this week Amy and Mari explore a side of it we don't talk about nearly enough. Not the calories burned or the fitness goals, but what movement does for our minds. From quieting racing thoughts to improving sleep and lifting mood, this episode is a gentle nudge to get up, get moving, and notice how much better you feel afterwards. Children instinctively move their bodies when they need to reset… and it works. Amy shares examples of families who noticed real improvements in anxiety and sleep when their children had more opportunity to be physically active. It turns out the adults in the room could learn a thing or two. There's no one-size-fits-all approach here. Amy and Mari encourage listeners to experiment, pay attention to how their body responds, and find ways to move that feel enjoyable rather than like another thing on the to-do list. Because we're designed to move and it doesn't have to be complicated.
Your challenge this week: add one extra burst of movement into your day, e.g. a walk, a dance in the kitchen, a few minutes on the trampoline with the kids. Then notice how you feel. We think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
