In this week’s episode of The Slowdown Podcast, we’re exploring what happens when we stop trying so hard to relax.

Restorative yoga is often associated with feeling calm, peaceful, and rested. But sometimes, when we finally slow down and give the body space to be still, we notice just how much is happening beneath the surface. Our thoughts might get louder. We might notice tension, sensations, emotions, restlessness, or how difficult it can be to simply stop doing.

In this episode, I’m talking about restorative yoga, slowing down, body awareness, and why we don’t always need to make relaxation the goal. Instead, we can practice becoming more familiar with our own experience. Noticing what’s here without immediately trying to change it.

We’ll explore what happens when we create space to listen to both the mind and body, and how this can become a practice of deeper self-connection.

In this episode:

  • Why slowing down can sometimes feel harder than expected

  • What restorative yoga can teach us about being still

  • The connection between body awareness and self-connection

  • Why you don’t need to clear your mind to practice mindfulness

  • Learning to notice thoughts, sensations, emotions, and energy without needing to fix them

  • Practicing being with the whole range of your experience, not just the parts that feel comfortable

And at the end, I’ll guide you through a 5 minute meditation to practice noticing what happens when you stop trying.

Take a breath, let's slow down together.
