Season four is here and I’m easing back in after three weeks that contained both a lot and absolutely nothing.
I was knocked down by the flu, hurt my back and then found myself speaking outside Queensland Parliament about proposed tougher drug-driving penalties. I share why laws that punish the presence of THC, rather than demonstrated impairment, are such an important issue for people taking legally prescribed cannabis.
Then I ask Christina McMullen from the Auscanna Podcast and Grace Ker from Spencer Green a deceptively complicated question: Are you a stoner?
I explore where the lazy, permanently-high stereotype came from, why women may be particularly reluctant to claim the label and how medicalisation has created a divide between the “legitimate patient” and the recreational cannabis consumer.
Also in this episode, Irena from We Are Lux joins me for our new season-four segment, High Design. This week, she introduces the Vessel Element Bubbler—a compact water pipe combining beautiful design, clever engineering and, importantly, easy cleaning.

In Wellness Field Notes, I’ve ordered a vibration plate to investigate the claims around lymphatic drainage and gym recovery. My bullshit detector is making some noise, but I’m curious enough to test it properly and report back.
And, of course, after three weeks away, there’s a dating catch-up.
