Melania Trump Champions New Initiative to Advance Women’s Health Research
First Lady Melania Trump announced a new U.S. women’s health initiative on October 19, 2026, following President Donald Trump’s signing of an executive order to improve research, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment for women and girls throughout their lives.
The order establishes a White House Women’s Health Task Force and directs the National Institutes of Health to create a dedicated Women’s Health Division within 90 days. The initiative aims to address gaps in research into conditions such as heart disease, cancer, infertility, endometriosis, menopause, and maternal health.
Melania Trump outlined five priorities: increasing research funding, using artificial intelligence to accelerate medical discoveries, speeding up the development of treatments while maintaining safety standards, making medical advances more affordable, and encouraging open conversations about women’s health.
Overall, the initiative seeks to strengthen women’s health research, translate scientific discoveries into clinical care, and improve access to evidence-based treatments for women and girls at every stage of life.
