Trump Signs Executive Order to Advance Women’s Health at Every Stage of Life

On October 19, 2026, President Donald Trump signed an executive order, championed by First Lady Melania Trump, to strengthen women’s health research and improve prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and medical care for women and girls throughout their lives.

The order directs the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to establish a Women’s Health Division within 90 days to address research gaps and accelerate medical discoveries into clinical care. It also establishes a White House Women’s Health Task Force to coordinate federal efforts across healthcare, research, and public policy.

Priority research areas include heart disease, cancer, stroke, Alzheimer’s disease, autoimmune conditions, endometriosis, infertility, maternal health, menopause, and mental health. The initiative also emphasizes better representation of women in clinical trials, improved research accountability, innovation, and evidence-based treatment.

The order revokes two women’s health initiatives established during the Biden administration, replacing them with a broader approach that emphasizes translating research into practical healthcare improvements.

Overall, the executive order aims to coordinate federal research, address gaps in women’s healthcare, and improve health outcomes for women and girls at every stage of life.
