Hi beautiful people,

I had such a lovely time chatting to Counselling Psychologist Jo Sheedy. I was trying to think about how to describe this conversation and it’s funny, in some ways it was surface level in the sense that we didn’t dig down into any one topic, but at the same time we still managed to go so deep. And I really hope that this conversation is both a reminder of the possibility to heal from wounds from trauma AND the crucial role that a supportive and compassionate and knowledgeable Psychologist or mental health clinician can play to guide that work.

In this episode, we chat about:

  • How Jo came to the work as a Counselling Psychologist
  • What is trauma and how it can show up in the body
  • What is trauma-informed care
  • The importance of common factors in healthcare
  • How shame can show up and neurobiological development
  • What is Internal Family Systems (IFS) and the idea of the Self

Enjoy!

Nadia xx
