In New York he has been reborn: he took out Cincinnati champion Arthur Fils 4-6, 7-6(3), 6-1, 6-4 despite trailing a set and 5-3 and being 0-5 in the head-to-head, then beat No. 18 seed Jiri Lehecka 2-6, 6-1, 7-6(3), 6-1.
