Could Elle Fanning become the MCU's new Mystique? Marvel Studios is reportedly looking at several actresses to play Raven Darkhölme/Mystique in the upcoming X-Men reboot, with Elle Fanning among the names reportedly being considered.
On today's Kristian Harloff Show, we discuss the latest X-Men casting rumors, whether Elle Fanning would be a good choice for Mystique, and how Marvel Studios' new mutant roster is beginning to come together. After years of Jennifer Lawrence and Rebecca Romijn playing the character, what should Marvel do differently with its version of Mystique?
The MCU's X-Men continues to be one of Marvel's most anticipated upcoming projects, and every new casting report gives us another potential clue about the direction Marvel is taking with the reboot. How important will Mystique be to the first movie, and could she become a major recurring character throughout Marvel's mutant saga?
Then we turn to The Batman.
Robert Pattinson says his version of Batman wouldn't fit into James Gunn's DCU. Fans have debated for years whether Pattinson's Dark Knight should eventually become the DCU Batman, but Pattinson himself seems to think the universes simply don't belong together. Is he right? Should Matt Reeves' Batman remain completely separate, and what does this mean for The Brave and the Bold and the search for the DCU's Bruce Wayne?
We're also discussing a fascinating new television project from Terence Winter, who is adapting Jay Stratton's memoir Out of the Shadows into a series centered on investigations into unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAPs).
The biggest discussion today is the continuing development of Marvel Studios' X-Men reboot. If Elle Fanning really is being considered for Mystique, could she follow Rebecca Romijn and Jennifer Lawrence and put her own stamp on one of the franchise's most recognizable mutants?
We're also tackling the continuing Robert Pattinson/DCU Batman debate. Pattinson doesn't believe his Batman belongs in James Gunn's universe — and he may have a point. Does keeping the ReevesVerse separate give both versions of Batman a better chance to succeed?
