What follows takes her into a world filled with supernatural activity, terrifying revelations, near-death experiences, psychic phenomena, hidden forces, and secrets capable of changing everything she thought she understood about herself and reality. Presence: Awakening blends elements of horror, suspense, paranormal fiction, and dark fantasy into a story where distinguishing the impossible from the real becomes increasingly difficult. Charity Becker brings an intensely personal dimension to her fiction. She has described herself as a survivor of domestic violence and says she uses experiences from her past to create characters who face enormous obstacles yet find ways to grow beyond their pain. In addition to writing, Becker has worked professionally as an editor and is also an artist and musician. Her bibliography extends well beyond Awakening, with the Presence universe continuing through titles including Wolf Moon, Smoke and Fire, Into the Dark, August Heat, Caged, and Sorrow's Aria.
