Join Sebastian and I as we jump right into a recent social media post he made about having to cancel the tour in support of the new album due to struggles with his mental health. We discuss how difficult it was for him to make that decision and the challenge of choosing what’s best for yourself while still feeling like you’re letting others down.

Sebastian opens up about the difficult year he’s had, including losing and letting go of both his former band and his significant other. We talk about how the end of those relationships felt akin to deaths in his personal and professional life, how the two often bleed into one another, and how those experiences found their way into the themes of the new album. Was it life imitating art, or art imitating life?

We also get into what’s in a name and how both of us have used nicknames as a way to hide our insecurities while also using them as a vehicle to become the people we wanted to be. We discuss eventually shedding those names as we became more comfortable with ourselves, and how what someone calls you can sometimes reveal just how well they actually know you.

We also talk about getting older, what Sebastian has learned through this period of his life, what’s in store for him moving forward, and much more in this chat.
