Another insight from the US trip: a speaker who said he doesn't have goals — he has standards. It's a profound nuance. Instead of writing down outcomes you want, you delineate who you intend to be — the body, lifestyle, relationships and work that are simply non-negotiable — and you live to that standard. Fresh off two weeks of travel, I'm back in the studio with training and nutrition dialled straight back in. Not because of a 30-day goal — because the way I eat and train is central to who I am. That's the identity piece: once your identity switches to "this is who I am, I do these things," you stop relying on willpower — which is a finite, neurochemically depleting resource. Willpower is booster fuel; standards are the engine. So: what are your standards? Do you have any at all?
