Our guest today is Ngọc Trần, the driving force behind Shop Bao Ngoc, a small Vietnamese eatery in Brunswick that operates as much as a community space as it does a restaurant.
In today’s episode, you’ll hear about Ngọc’s experience growing up in the commission flats of Footscray, learning to fillet fish from the age of five (!!), and what her Vietnamese heritage means to her today.
We talk about the humble beginnings of Shop Bao Ngoc, where the shop is at now, and, of course, our good friend Anthony Bourdain — who we’re sure would have been a huge fan of her restaurant (and best friends with her grandma!)
