An evening of fishing should have ended before dark. Instead, three friends find themselves stranded on a quiet Finger Lake, their motor dead and their phones left behind. The shore is only a few hundred feet away, but with the summer cabins empty and no help in sight, they have little choice but to wait for morning. To pass the time, Paul tells a story about drowned men and strange shapes beneath the water. His companions laugh it off—until an empty rowboat drifts out of the darkness and their lantern begins to fade. As the hours stretch on, every unexplained sound draws their attention below the hull. In water this dark, there is no way to know what might be moving beneath them. Or what it wants.
