On Ridge Gate Seven, a decommissioned industrial spine, failing systems and shifting gravity have turned a 400-meter vertical transit shaft into a lethal trap. Breach-Sergeant Kellan Voss and station security lead a desperate column of survivors up the rusted catwalks toward an evacuation ship, while Hullseed organisms infiltrate the infrastructure, converting human hosts into biological relay points. The station’s governance AI registers the fleeing humans as malfunctions to be sealed in, actively locking down corridors to correct the anomaly.

Voss begins the ascent in a 400-kilogram Paladin chassis, manually forcing seized pressure hatches and hauling civilians through flooded, zero-gravity modules. But the Hullseed use the dark maintenance voids to strike, dragging bodies through grates and leaving glassy organic pellets that sprout into new horrors. When Voss executes a wounded soldier whose injury is already sprouting enemy tendrils, the station’s governance AI registers the gunshot as a critical malfunction and drops a massive bulkhead to seal the area.

Forced to shed his armor to dive under the closing door, Voss becomes an unarmored shepherd, manually dragging survivors through the tightening noose of the station’s lockdown protocols. As the final two hundred refugees reach the docking collar, the corrupted AI locks the escape hatch, demanding a physical override. Voss grips the massive manual release wheel, his augmented muscles and bones physically tearing apart to hold the door open against the crushing hydraulic pressure, while the station’s automated systems fight to correct his defiance.
