Every AI music creator eventually asks the same question: does this actually need mastering, or is the export good enough?
This week I break mastering down in plain language, no assumed vocabulary required. What it actually is versus mixing, the handful of tools involved (EQ, compression, limiting), and the numbers that actually matter (LUFS, true peak, loudness range) explained simply enough that you don't need an engineering background to follow along.
Then I get into the part that matters most if you're working with Suno or Mureka specifically: why AI-generated tracks carry a different set of problems than a band that tracked live in a room, the artifact signature generation models leave behind, and why stems pulled from an AI export were never actually isolated in the first place the way real recorded stems are.
This isn't about tricking a platform or gaming a detector. Mastering changes how a track sounds. It doesn't change what it is.
