図らずも終戦記念日の収録となった今回のエピソード。
歴史の教科書には決して載らない、市井の人々と戦争。片渕須直監督がミクロな視点で描く戦火の日常は、「逞しく生きる人々の記録」として語られることが多い。でも——本当にそうなのか。
平和の中に生きる僕らがこの映画に向ける眼差しに、どこかエゴはないか。感動で終わらせることへの後ろめたさはないか。
「考えさせられる」で終わらないのがリルパルですが、今回ばかりは簡単に答えが出ない問いと向き合うことになりました。ぜひ一緒に考えてみてください。

Does the way we — people who have only ever known peace — look at this film carry its own kind of ego? Is there something uncomfortable about being moved to tears and then moving on?
