Calico Pie is a whimsical short story by Edward Lear set in a magical land of vivid colour and peculiar creatures. Blue birds feast on Calico Pies, a hat-wearing fish shares Calico Jam by the Syllabub Sea, tiny mice dance in teacups, and insects stomp to the beat of the Calico Drum — yet every creature, after their joyful visit, disappears and never returns.
