Professor Sekou Bermiss studies how “strategic human capital” gets deployed in organizations through socialinteractions that have consequences for the organization’s performance. This means that, if you look at skilledworkers with roughly the same capabilities, what may matter most to their impact on organizational outcomes is the ways in which ideology and diversity shape the social interactions through which those skills are deployed. If you don’t agree politically, or if there is diversity in identity, then you may get outcomes that are surprisingly different across two equally skilled people.
