Traditional video analysis shows what happens in the golf swing, but not why. Only 3-D biomechanics reveals how joint motion, pressure transfer, Ground Reaction Forces (GRF), and the kinetic sequence create clubhead speed.

Elite speed does not come from swinging harder or rotating the pelvis faster. It begins with efficient force production against the ground and a perfectly timed transfer of energy from the feet to the clubhead.

The downswing consists of three phases:

Shift: Pressure moves into the lead foot. The lead ankle dorsiflexes, the foot stiffens, and the pelvis organizes for rotation.

Braking: The pelvis decelerates through eccentric muscle action, allowing the torso, arms, and club to accelerate. Opposing horizontal forces under the feet create rotational torque.

Propulsion: The lead leg extends, producing peak vertical GRF. Combined with rotation and side bend, this transfers maximum energy into the club.

Every segment has a specific role. The big toe stabilizes the foot, the ankle absorbs and redirects force, the knee manages flexion and extension, the hips control rotation, and the pelvis transfers energy into the ribcage, shoulders, arms, hands, and finally the clubhead.

Efficient golfers constantly alternate between mobility and stability. If the foot is unstable, the ankle lacks mobility, or the pelvis rotates too early, energy leaks occur, reducing both speed and consistency.

A common misconception is that faster pelvic rotation alone creates power. In reality, the pelvis depends entirely on well-managed ground forces and precise segmental timing. More effort without better sequencing often causes sliding, early extension, and inconsistent impact.

3-D motion analysis exposes what video cannot measure: joint angles, segment timing, rotational couples, vertical GRF, and hidden energy leaks.
