Welcome back to the Speaking of Tea… podcast where we talk about all things tea, poetry, and the lifestyle surrounding the two.
Today’s episode concerns the little things that make up the tea experience. Or rather, the many elements combined that make for a good tea session: a new handcrafted tea tray, crackle glaze in teapots, gong dao bei, staining things with tea, and what I do with old puerh cakes to preserve the art and display them!
On note of the tea cakes, I also explore the animal zodiacs… which now I do through tea! Each year, the newly produced tea cakes have art of the animal for the year, which is how I’ve been learning the wheel: associating them with what came out that year!
Poetry is read. As usual. One that, upon review of this podcast, I named “Sands of an Hourglass” as I had that imagery when I closed my eyes and listened to the track. Do you get that?
Then I read “Upon A Hard Day’s Light”- a poem inspired by beer. How fun!
We talk about the question of perception and presence. Of a sense of searching and whether reward does come from direct action or… from emptiness?
And the big question I ask of you, “is your void fun?”
