Today’s guest, Shabana Azeez, shares what it was like filming on the set of HBO series The Pitt after landing the role of medical student Victoria Javadi and moving to LA on a whim. Her role in the award-winning medical drama sees Victoria juggling the high-pressure environment of a hospital emergency department while also living up to the expectations of her successful surgeon mother.
In this conversation, Shabana opens up about the loneliness she felt when she moved to Los Angeles, the people who tried to befriend her once she became famous, having a parasocial relationship with herself online, and the friendships that have grounded her during her rise to fame.
If you’d like to support Shabana, you can watch her in the new SBS series The Airport Chaplain, which is streaming now on SBS On Demand. New episodes air Wednesdays at 8:30pm on SBS.
