What are we really capable of — and who decides where our limits are?
In this episode of Soul Sync, my friend and returning guest Nicola Farmer joins me for a playful, thoughtful and wide-ranging conversation about human potential, the power of language, mediumship, consciousness and what becomes possible when we stop trying quite so hard to be who we think we're supposed to be.
Nicola has made me think deeply about words over the years — not simply the words we speak to other people, but the language we use to define ourselves.
I can't.
I'm not good enough.
I'm trying.
That's impossible.
What happens when those words stop being descriptions and start becoming boundaries?
We explore why simplicity can be one of the hardest things to embrace in mediumship, why the word “try” can sometimes work against us, the pressure mediums place upon themselves to perform in a particular way, and what happens when we allow ourselves to become more authentic rather than attempting to fit somebody else's definition of what a medium should be.
Nicola also shares a beautiful idea at the heart of her work: mediums are storytellers. Not because we invent the story, but because communication is about bringing the personality, memories, relationships and life of another human being to life through words.
We also explore the relationship between science, consciousness, spirituality and mediumship, why these worlds don't necessarily need to oppose one another, and why perhaps one of the most powerful positions we can take is simply remaining curious.
Ultimately, this is a conversation about possibility.
About looking back at the seemingly disconnected experiences of our lives and recognising how they may have been preparing us for something we couldn't yet see.
And about remembering that human potential may be far greater than any of us currently imagine.
