Saiwan Bakehouse in Thailand's city of Pattaya has created a viral pastry sensation featuring a croissant topped with what appears to be strands of hair, made from finely shredded fat choy, a black seaweed common in Asian cuisine. The unusual dessert, which originated from a customer's request for a novelty birthday cake prank, costs approximately three Australian dollars. The algae topping reportedly adds a subtle savoury note that balances the sweet cream and flaky pastry.
