In this episode of the International Enneagram Association podcast, we go back in time to the first International Enneagram Conference in 1994 and listen as Julia Twomey-Davie presents her dissertation that links Dr. Jerry Wagner’s Enneagram to Carol Pearson's 12 Heroic Archetypes – the first empirical study to test both systems together. She tested 185 adults with five psychological instruments – Wagner Enneagram Personality Style Scales, Pearson's Heroic Myth Index, the Barron Scale from the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory, Spielberger State-Trait Anxiety Inventory, and the Marlowe–Crowne Social Desirability Scale – to produce the hypothesis that the 12 archetypes function like a periodic table of psychological elements, revealing that specific types consistently matched with specific archetypes.
