Has the relationship between Nikita Kucherov and the Tampa Bay Lightning officially reached the point of no return? Boomer, Pinder and Rhett Warrener react to some revealing comments from Kucherov's agent, Dan Milstein, on the DFO Insider podcast with Jeff Marek and David Pagnotta. Milstein made it pretty clear that things have gone horribly wrong between Kucherov and the organization, and that it's time to move on when the season ends. The 33-year-old superstar is playing out the final year of his eight-year, $76 million contract, carrying a $9.5 million cap hit before becoming an unrestricted free agent on July 1, 2027. And we're not talking about just anybody here. Kucherov is coming off a ridiculous 130-point season, has won two Stanley Cups with Tampa Bay and recently passed Steven Stamkos as the franchise's all-time leading scorer. So what the hell happened?! Lightning GM Julien BriseBois insists the team has no intention of trading him, but can they really afford to let a player of this calibre walk away for nothing? The boys discuss whether Tampa Bay could change its stance before the NHL trade deadline, how Kucherov can continue playing for a team he apparently plans to leave and whether there's any realistic chance of repairing this relationship. One thing seems increasingly clear: unless something changes dramatically, Kucherov's days in Tampa Bay are numbered.
