Three wins in four games have changed the way Giants fans can look at this season, but the gain comes with a new cost: injuries and lineup questions are arriving just as the NFC East suddenly looks more winnable. Drew and Rob weigh what the 3-1 start means against the uncertainty at receiver, center and backup quarterback.

Are the Giants a real NFC East contender at 3-1?

Through four games, the record looks more credible because the coaching, young defense and ability to finish games are improving while the division around them suddenly looks much less intimidating.

Did Braxton Berrios landing on IR unexpectedly reopen the door for Odell Beckham Jr., or did OBJ’s comments after his release effectively close it? Drew and Rob get into one of the hotter debates of the episode while making clear there is no report that the Giants are currently pursuing Beckham.

Is Bryan Hudson actually about to take John Michael Schmitz’s starting job? Hudson’s first NFL start was clean in pass protection, and John Harbaugh’s “we’ll see” answer about the Week 5 starter turned what looked temporary into a legitimate center competition. J.J. McCarthy’s role is changing quickly too, with the possibility that he could already become Jameis Winston’s full-game backup against Washington.

The tape from Arizona created even more reasons for optimism. Arvell Reese continues to look like a potential defensive star, Abdul Carter generated pressure that went far beyond his sack total, and Deonte Banks explained how film recognition and leverage helped create the biggest play of his Giants career. Drew and Rob also break down the defensive adjustments that changed the game after Arizona’s fast start.

The league then suspended two officials after Week 4, including one from Giants-Cardinals, before the focus turns to Washington. Marcus Mariota aggravated his MCL injury, Jayden Daniels had not yet been cleared for Week 5 when the episode was recorded, and the Giants still did not know exactly which quarterback they would see.

Then the show goes around the NFL for Week 4: New England shocks Buffalo, Dallas outguns Houston, the Rams knock Philadelphia to 2-2, Jacksonville keeps winning, Seattle sends the Chargers to 0-4, Carolina knocks off Detroit and the rest of the weekend gets graded against Drew and Rob’s picks. A scoring correction also leaves the season race tied 122-122 entering Monday Night Football.
